This March signals the countdown to the InterEcoForum´s 8th annual event, which is being held on the 21st and 22nd of March in Marbella, Spain, and will be themed on Water for Sustainable Development.

The key objective of the event is to work towards an innovative future for the water sector. Each edition of the event is supported and/or attended by the relevant UN agency, such as UNESCO, UNWTO, UNDP, along with a whole host of other speakers and representatives from around the world. This year’s event has also been boosted by the involvement of the UN Water department (UN-Water); who have published the event on their World Water Day website.

 

This year, InterEcoForum is bringing together an eclectic mix of speakers from diverse backgrounds and a wide variety of organisations and sectors. One such speaker is vocal critic of the fossil fuel industry, Comrade Sunny Ofehe. An environmental and human rights activist from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, he was recently declared as a Governorship aspirant under the National ruling political party, APC, in the Delta State of Nigeria. In 2005, Mr Ofehe founded the non-governmental organisation, Hope for the Niger Delta Campaigns (HNDC), headquartered in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

 

At the upcoming InterEcoForum, Comrade Sunny Ofehe will present the Niger Delta as a case study for the analysis of wider issues, such as Water for Sustainable Development and the Impact on Rural Community Development.
