The Oxford English Dictionary defines motivation as something "designed to promote the desire or willingness to do or achieve something".

But when it comes to business, actions speak louder than words. These business leaders speak from experience when they have their say on what it takes to motivate. So sit back, relax, and enjoy inspiring quotes which will help give you and your business an extra boost of motivation:

“If you are successful, it is because somewhere, sometime, someone gave you a life or an idea that started you in the right direction. Remember also that you are indebted to life until you help some less fortunate person, just as you were helped”.

Melinda Gates, co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

"Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming".

Sir Richard Branson

“Don’t be intimidated by what you don’t know. That can be your greatest strength and ensure that you do things differently from everyone else”.

Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx

"The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary".

Vidal Sassoon

"I don't believe in taking right decisions.. I take decisions and then make them right".

Ratan Tata

"Dear optimist, pessimist, and realist - while you guys were busy arguing about the glass of wine, I drank it! Sincerely, the opportunist!"

Lori Greiner, inventor, QVC host and Shark Tank investor

"We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten. Don't let yourself be lulled into inaction".

Bill Gates

“Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion”.

Jack Welch

"The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do".

Steve Jobs

"The difference between successful people and others is how long they spend time feeling sorry for themselves".

Barbara Corcoran, real estate magnate and Shark Tank investor

"I feel that luck is preparation meeting opportunity".

Oprah Winfrey

Now whilst the following quotes weren't actually said by any business leaders, we still feel that they are worthy of a special mention:

"If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude".

Charles R. Swindoll

"Out of clutter, find Simplicity. From discord, find Harmony. In the middle of difficulty lies Opportunity".

Albert Einstein

"Well done is better than well said".

Benjamin Franklin

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake".

Napoleon Bonaparte
